General
  • Parkinson’s UK – great place to start looking for any information, their “Benefits” page has lots of practical advice for people of working age. Their helpline is really useful too.
  • Carers Oxfordshire – advice and information for carers provided by Oxfordshire County Council.
  • Age UK – more than just information for the elderly. This is now aimed at over 50′s and so has lots of general information for working age people and carers.
Benefits
  • DLA – Disabled persons living allowance. There is a care and a mobility component of this and this benefit is not means tested.
  • Access to work – government department dedicated to helping people stay in work if they are affected by bad health or disability.
  • Prescription pre-payment certificate – you may be able to save money on prescrirption charges by purchasing one of these.

Sport and Leisure
  • OXRAD – An Integrated Sports and Leisure centre in North Oxford with an adapted gym and a hydrotherapy room. Very reasonable membership rates.
